Summary: Watermelon Picker does not collect personal information, does not require an account, and does not store your photos. Your data stays on your device.
1. Information We Collect
Watermelon Picker is designed with privacy in mind. We collect minimal data necessary to provide the service:
- Photos: When you take or select a photo, it is sent to our AI analysis service for watermelon detection and scoring. Photos are processed in real-time and are not stored on our servers.
- Audio recordings: If you use the knock recording feature, the audio is analyzed locally on your device. Sound analysis data (not the raw audio) may be sent for taste prediction.
- Device identifier: A random identifier is generated and stored locally on your device (in the iOS Keychain) to manage your credit balance. This identifier is not linked to your identity and is never transmitted to any server.
2. Information We Do NOT Collect
- Names, email addresses, or contact information
- Location data
- Browsing history or app usage analytics
- Advertising identifiers
- Data from other apps on your device
3. How We Use Information
The limited data we process is used solely to:
- Analyze watermelon photos and return quality scores
- Predict taste based on visual and sound analysis
- Track your in-app credit balance locally on your device
4. Data Storage
- On your device: Credit balance and device identifier are stored in the iOS Keychain, which persists across app reinstalls but is device-bound.
- On our servers: Photos sent for analysis are processed in memory and immediately discarded. No images are stored.
5. Third-Party Services
Watermelon Picker uses the following third-party services for AI analysis:
- OpenAI API: Used to analyze watermelon images and predict taste scores. Photos are sent to OpenAI's API for processing. OpenAI's data usage policies apply to this processing. OpenAI states that API inputs are not used for model training.
We do not use any advertising networks, analytics SDKs, or social media SDKs.
6. In-App Purchases
Purchases are handled entirely through Apple's App Store and StoreKit framework. We do not process or store any payment information. Apple's Privacy Policy governs all payment transactions.
7. Children's Privacy
Watermelon Picker does not knowingly collect any information from children under 13. The app does not require account creation and does not collect personal data.
8. Data Security
We use industry-standard security practices including:
- HTTPS encryption for all network communication
- iOS Keychain for secure local storage
- No persistent server-side storage of user data
9. Your Rights
Since we do not collect personal data or maintain user accounts, there is no personal data to access, modify, or delete. Your credit balance can be reset by uninstalling the app and requesting a fresh start.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
